Bel Canto Singers - Hesston College Directed by Russell Adrian
Bel Canto singers has been the premier choral ensemble of Hesston College for 33 years. The ensemble carries out ambitious concert and touring schedules annually. Combining high artistic standards with unique performance opportunities, Bel Canto Singers offers first- and second-year college musicians experiences typically reserved for third-and fourth-year students. Recent juried appearances have included performances for Chanticleer, the King's Singers, Charles Bruffy, and the Rose Ensemble. Bel Canto Singers represents a broad sampling of academic pursuits, from aviation to education to music majors.
Russell Adrian, D.M.A., joined the Hesston College music faculty in fall, 2015. He conducts Bel Canto Singers, the International Chorale, and teaches music theory. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree in conducting from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis), master of music degree in choral conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and graduated from Bethel College (North Newton, Kan.) with degrees in music and mathematics. In addition, Russell serves as the artistic director of The Summer Singers, a chamber vocal ensemble based in Minneapolis, Minn. He resides in North Newton with his wife, Camille, and two children, Hannah and Micah.
